Belarus’ Aleh Tamashevich victorious at Russian Winter tournament in Moscow
MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) - Belarusian athletes won two medals at the Russian Winter athletics tournament in Moscow, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Athletics Federation.
Aleh Tamashevich was victorious in the men's shot put, with eight athletes from four countries competing for medals in this event. On his final attempt, the Belarusian clocked 20.42 meters, surpassing the mark of Russia's Maxim Afonin by just 7 centimeters. The top three was rounded by Andrei Rares from Romania (20.27 meters).
In the women's high jump, Karyna Demidik of Belarus secured third place with a result of 1.89 meters, finishing below Russia's Kristina Koroleva and Cuba's Adelina Dacsy. Additionally, Belarusian Vitali Parakhonka finished within the top five in the sprint hurdles, Tatsiana Shabanava placed 7th in the 1500m run, and Maksim Hrabarenka finished 8th in the 60m dash.
