Belarus 4th at FIDE World Youth Chess Olympiad 2018

MINSK, 3 December (BelTA) – Belarus finished fourth at the FIDE World Youth Under-16 Chess Olympiad 2018 in Konya, Turkey, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Sport and Tourism Ministry.

The Belarusian team comprised Vyacheslav Zarubitsky, Olga Badelko, Denis Lazavik, Maksim Tsaruk and Artyom Sinyavsky. They scored 13 points in nine matches. Belarus beat two Turkish teams 2.5-1.5, then Slovakia 3.5-0.5, Georgia 3-1, India 2.5-1.5 and Israel 3.5-0.5. Belarus drew with the United States 2-2, and lost to Iran and China 1-3.

Uzbekistan won the tournament with 16 points. India placed second with 14 points. Bronze went to China (13 points).

Competing in the tournament were 46 teams.
