Azarenka moves to Charleston round number two

MINSK, 4 April (BelTA) – World number 26 Victoria Azarenka of Belarus needed just an hour and ten minutes to prevail over Italy’s world number 56 Elisabetta Cocciaretto, 6-1, 6-2, to progress into the Charleston second round, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian will next face world number 68 Taylor Townsend of the United States.

In the Copa Colsanitas round of Last 16 in Bogota, Belarus’ Iryna Shymanovich and Renata Zarazua of Mexico lost to You Xiaodi of China and Ukraine’s Katarina Zavatska, 2-6, 1-6. In the singles round of 32 Iryna Shymanovich lost to Germany’s Laura Siegemund, 6-7 (5-7), 5-7.

The events in Bogota and Charleston will finish on 7 April.
