MINSK, 14 August (BelTA) - Applications for the 2019 IBU Summer Biathlon World Championships, which is due in Raubichi, Minsk on 23-25 August, have been received from 27 national federations, BelTA learned from the organizing committee of the tournament.
The list includes many renowned athletes: Timofey Lapshin, Anna Frolina, Andrejs Rastorgujevs, Ekaterina Glazyrina, Larisa Kuklina, Krasimir Anev, Valj and Vita Semerenko, Sergey Semenov and others.
According to the organizing committee, taking part in the Summer Biathlon World Championships will be teams from the countries where biathlon has just started developing: Greece, Turkey and Mongolia. The total number of adult and junior athletes will make up 116 female and 141 male biathletes.
Work is underway at the Raubichi Olympic Center to prepare for the forthcoming competitions. For example, an additional armored TV cabin has been installed to improve the transmission at the shooting stages.
