World Tourism Organization praises Belarus' tourism efforts

MINSK, 26 March (BelTA) – The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) welcomes Belarus' efforts to promote tourism, Deputy Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization Jaime Alberto Cabal Sanclemente said as he met with Pavel Pustovoi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the Kingdom of Spain with a concurrent accreditation as Belarus' permanent representative to the World Tourism Organization, on 25 March, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Spain.

The parties welcomed constructive cooperation between Belarus and the World Tourism Organization.

Pavel Pustovoi spoke about measures undertaken in Belarus to attract foreign tourists. Among them is the 30-day visa waiver, liberalization of the visa policy, visa-free entry for participants and fans of the 2nd European Games that will take place in Minsk on 21-30 June.

“Jaime Alberto Cabal Sanclemente gave a positive evaluation of Belarus' efforts to advance its tourism industry. He expressed confidence that the work of Belarus' permanent representative to the World Tourism Organization with the residence in Madrid will give a new impetus to cooperation between our country and this organization. Talking about priority areas of the UNWTO work, Jaime Alberto Cabal Sanclemente mentioned innovative technologies in tourism, development of new training programs, and encouraging UNWTO members to liberalize their visa policies,” the embassy informed.
