Wizz Air may launch direct flights to Minsk

MINSK, 6 November (BelTA) – The Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air may launch direct flights to Minsk, Csaba Balogh, the State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, told the media on 6 November, BelTA has learned.

The possibility of increasing the frequency of direct flights to Belarus is under discussion. “We have close relations with the Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air. We will discuss opening direct flights to Belarus. Perhaps, next year the company will send its representatives here, to Minsk, to begin practical work,” he said.

Direct flights, according to him, are important not only for tourists but also for business. “Direct flights between the countries operate two or three times a week. This is not enough for business,” he added.

The Belarusian-Hungarian business forum is held as part of the 9th meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation. Taking part in the forum are 12 Hungarian companies and about 40 Belarusian enterprises. The forum focuses on advantages of using e-commerce platforms in mutual trade between the two countries, investment opportunities of Hungary, and legal regulation for business. The program includes B2B business negotiations.
