Who would oppose Belarus-DPRK cooperation? Expert weighs in

Aleksandr Tishchenko

MINSK, 8 April (BelTA) — In a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel, national security expert Aleksandr Tishchenko has weighed in on who might take issue with growing cooperation between Belarus and Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).
“The countries that tried to crush us with sanctions, hoping we would fail, surrender, and turn into vassals, will be the ones most unhappy about Belarus-DPRK cooperation. But neither we nor DPRK have surrendered,” Aleksandr Tishchenko said.

In the expert’s opinion, Belarusian-North Korean cooperation is of particular interest precisely because both countries have spent considerable time developing under sanctions pressure. “Each country has gained certain experience and has good achievements in its own field. To preserve and improve our results, Belarus and DPRK can complement each other,” he believes.

Aleksandr Tishchenko noted that Pyongyang might be interested in Minsk’s experience in areas such as industry, agriculture, education, and science. In turn, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea could offer Belarus its capabilities in terms of mineral resources and information technology. “We can organize a series of production facilities in DPRK that would be in demand and useful. I also think that our high-quality modern education will be useful to our Korean partners,” the expert added.
