Tajikistan’s Days of Cinema kicks off in Minsk

MINSK, 28 April (BelTA) – The Days of Cinema of Tajikistan opened at the Pobeda movie theater in Minsk. The event is part of the Days of Culture of Tajikistan in Belarus, BelTA has learned.

The opening ceremony featured a screening of the film Life Is Beautiful. In the following days, audiences will also have the opportunity to watch two more films: In Search of Truth and Path of Wrath. All films will be shown in Tajik with Russian subtitles.

Belarus’ First Deputy Culture Minister Dmitry Shlyakhtin noted that Belarus-Tajikistan relations are built on shared historical ties and mutual respect. Today, they are characterized by close strategic partnership across all areas. “One of the most active and dynamically developing areas of our cooperation is cultural exchange. An integral part of these ties is national cinema, which is successfully evolving, combining national traditions with modern trends in global filmmaking,” he said.

Tajikistan’s First Deputy Culture Minister Nazarien Obid Odilzoda emphasized that cinema is a vital component of Tajikistan’s contemporary culture. “Since gaining independence, filmmakers have created hundreds of feature, documentary, and animated films across various genres, reflecting the richness and traditions of our culture. It has become a good tradition to present the best examples of national cinema to Belarusian audiences during the Days of Culture of Tajikistan,” he noted.

According to Chairman of the Union of Cinematographers of Tajikistan Safar Khakdodov, cooperation between Tajik and Belarusian filmmakers has been ongoing for many years. “Film studios of our two countries have signed a memorandum on joint film production, and we are actively working on it. We know the high level of film education here, and our specialists are interested in studying in Belarus. The films we brought this year are diverse in theme and created by our young, talented filmmakers,” he said.

Director of Life Is Beautiful Daler Rakhmatov shared that he and his family have had a special affection for Belarus since childhood. “Our grandfather served in a partisan unit in Belarus during the Great Patriotic War. Since childhood, I have had a deep love for this country, and he always told us about the kindness and honesty of its people,” he said. “As for our film, it is modest, at times naïve, but very sincere.”
