Switzerland, Belarus sign agreement to boost tourism during IIHF World Championships

MINSK, 29 November (BelTA) – Switzerland and Belarus have agreed to work on increasing tourist flow during the IIHF World Championship editions in 2020 and 2021, BelTA learned from Belarus' National Tourism Agency following a meeting between Director of the Tourism Department of the Sport and Tourism Ministry of Belarus Andrei Molchan and Project Manager and Manager Market Development at Switzerland Tourism Federico Sommaruga.

“The parties discussed tourism development in the two countries and agreed to assist Belarusian and Swiss travel agencies in attracting tourists during the IIHF World Championships which are due in Switzerland in 2020 and in Belarus and Latvia in 2021,” the National Tourism Agency said.

The parties also signed a memorandum of understanding between the Belarusian Sport and Tourism Ministry and Switzerland Tourism.

The 2020 IIHF World Championship will take place in Zurich and Lausanne. Switzerland will host the event for the 11th time. The 2021 edition will be co-hosted by Minsk and Riga.
