Raccoon from USA gets potential groom in Belarus

MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) - The raccoon who arrived from the USA to Belarus now has a potential groom - his name is Maksim, veterinarian Yekaterina Chernyak from the animal park in Baranovichi told STV, BelTA has learned.
According to the animal park, the raccoon, which turned out to be a female, has not yet fully revealed her personality. “She doesn’t let us get too close yet, but we are working on it. Among her favorite foods is meat, and she’s getting used to fruits and porridges,” Yekaterina Chernyak said.

The fact that Senya turned out to be a female has not affected the animal’s living conditions in any way. Only the entry in the new passport will change. By the way, a name is currently being chosen for the raccoon. “Future plans involve pairing her with a male named Maksim. We’ll be planning to get offspring from them,” the veterinarian shared.

As previously reported, the raccoon arrived in Belarus from the USA in a shipping container. Initially, the animal was kept in quarantine at the Oshmyany District Veterinary Station, after which it moved to the animal park in Baranovichi, which is among the top three most visited tourist destinations in Brest Oblast.
