Pertsov: Victory Day events aim to pass true history to youth

MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) - The purpose of the Victory Day celebrations is to preserve historical memory and pass it on to the younger generation, Vladimir Pertsov, First Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration said ahead of a gala meeting and concert held at the Palace of the Republic in Minsk on 6 May, BelTA has learned.

“We always make the Victory celebration deeply meaningful organizing a wide range of events not only in Minsk, but in every oblast and district center. They feature heartfelt, memory-filled, high quality performances, because our priority is to pass on to them our historical code the unvarnished truth and to tell them about the bravery of people their own age. The ancestors gave up their youth, endured hardships, and many lost their lives so that we could be born and live on this land,” Vladimir Pertsov said.

He stressed that all events organized for Victory Day: motorcycle rallies, car rallies, bike rides, marathons, various exhibitions, and campaigns are aimed at preserving historical memory and passing it to the younger generation. “Young people only know about the war from movies, books, and history textbooks. Our task is to share with them the spirit of Victory, the spirit of the victorious people, the spirit that we, the older generation, still feel deep inside,” Vladimir Pertsov said.
The Palace of the Republic in Minsk is hosting the gala meeting and concert on 6 May. The concert highlights the idea of generational continuity and the preservation of historical memory. It focuses on the personal stories, emotions, and experiences of those whose lives were affected by the war. After each theatrical episode, the performers present concert pieces. Before the concert began, visitors could also see a special thematic exhibition organized by the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War.
