Over 20 bird species return to Pripyatsky National Park after wintering
MINSK, 16 March (BelTA) - Birds are returning from their wintering grounds to Pripyatsky National Park, BelTA learned from ecotourism specialist Olga Kharitonovich.
With each warm spring day, more and more migratory birds arrive in the park from their winter habitats. This month alone, more than 20 species have already been recorded by the park’s ornithologist and research staff. Among the first to be noted in the scientific department’s field journal were the common crane, great egret, grey heron, great cormorant, whooper swan, mute swan, greylag goose, goldeneye, bean goose, white-fronted goose, skylark, starling, reed bunting, meadow pipit, black redstart, black-headed gull, lapwing, snipe, ringed plover, and others.
The national park is eagerly awaiting the return of other feathered inhabitants of its protected territories.
