MINSK, 16 July (BelTA) - Belarusian science has become more open to the world and more visible abroad in recent decades, Andrei Dudchik, deputy director at the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB), told BelTA.
“In my opinion, during the years of independence, Belarusian science has become more open to the world. We keep in active contact with foreign scientists, both from the West and from the East, in various areas, and we now have more opportunities to make our mark. For example, a Belarusian-Chinese research center of philosophy and culture has been set up at the NASB Institute of Philosophy, and we are actively working in this area," Andrei Dudchik said.
The scholar also noted the diversity of the Belarusian scientific traditions, approaches, areas of research. In his opinion, this shows that the national science has good prospects for further intensive development. “We are well known abroad, we enjoy a good reputation. I would like to highlight our education in the humanities. Now we are popularizing philosophy among the youth audience and keep in contact on this topic with foreign colleagues. They often commend the high level of training of our schoolchildren and students,” Andrei Dudchik noted.
He stressed that the initiatives of young people are of interest to the Belarusian scientific community and receive support, including the financial one. “We want young scientists to be engaged and to be able to choose the areas of research that are most attractive to them,” he said.
