Mogilev Oblast theatre prepares themed program for Victory Day
MOGILEV, 4 May (BelTA) – The Mogilev Oblast Drama Theatre is preparing an extensive themed program for Victory Day, the theatre’s administration told BelTA.
All events will be united under the program of the 6th youth patriotic campaign Speak Your Word for Peace.
The campaign will open on 5 May at 18:00 with the official launch of the 3rd regional fine arts and photography competition Pain of the Soul to commemorate the victims of the genocide of the Belarusian people and the 85th anniversary of the defense of Mogilev during the Great Patriotic War. It will be complemented by the exhibition Great War – Great Victory from the collection of the Maslennikov Art Museum. The works will be displayed in the theatre’s art foyer. The presentation will be accompanied by a musical program performed by the classical and contemporary music ensemble Exprompt-Classica-Quartet.
After the opening, the theatre will present the production The Dawns Here Are Quiet based on Boris Vasilyev’s novella. The performance, created last year for the 80th anniversary of Victory, tells, despite its dramatic storyline, a moving story about the desire to live and be happy.
The next day, 6 May, the patriotic campaign will continue with the 5th regional recitation competition dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the defense of Mogilev and the victory in the Great Patriotic War. A musical program titled Memories will also be presented, followed by a performance of The Last One, which tells the story of the last surviving veteran, a witness to the tragic wartime events.
On Thursday, 7 May, the drama theatre invites audiences to the play The Tribunal by Belarusian classic Andrei Makayonok. The production depicts events of 1942 in a Belarusian village occupied by German forces. Before the performance, visitors will be able to enjoy the musical program Belarusian Collection. Yaugen Glebau.
The results of the regional recitation, fine arts, and photography competitions will be announced on 8 May at 15:00. At 16:30, Mogilev residents and guests of the city will be able to see the play You Simply Knew How to Wait based on real wartime letters from the front.
