Minsk book fair to highlight Year of Native Land, writers' cooperation

MINSK, 26 February (BelTA) – The Year of Native Land theme and international cooperation of Belarusian writers with literators from different countries will be in the limelight of the 25th Minsk International Book Fair, Belarus' Information Minister Alexander Karlyukevich said at the press conference at the national press center on 26 February, BelTA has learned.

According to the minister, these are the key themes of the exhibition. One of the major events of the expo, the 4th International Symposium The Writer and the Time, will welcome prose writers, poets, literature theorists and critics from 21 countries, including Lithuania, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Poland, Montenegro, Serbia, the UK, and China.

Taking part in the exhibition will be representatives of more than 30 states.

Alexander Karlyukevich also noted that the program of the Minsk book fair is very diverse. Serbia, the guest of honor of the Minsk book fair 2018, will offer a large national book exhibition. The delegation will include the officials in charge of book publishing and also famous Serbian writers. The works of Goran Petrovic, one of the modern Serbian literature classics, have been published by the Mastatskaya Litaratura publishing house in Belarusian ahead of the Minsk book fair. The minister added that Mastatskaya Litaratura and the Zvyazda publishing house will arrange an exhibition of modern Serbian literature and classics translated into Belarusian.

In addition, the magazines Polymya, Neman and Maladost and the newspaper Litaratura i Mastatstva have published the works of the participants of the Minsk book fair and the Writer and Time symposium translated into the Belarusian or Russian language. They will be available at the Minsk book fair 2018.
