Minister: High-quality journalism is vital for keeping peace in Belarus 

MINSK, 5 May (BelTA) -  High-quality journalism is vital for keeping sky above our children's heads peaceful, Belarus’ Information Minister Dmitry Zhuk said during a ceremony to honor media workers on the occasion of the Print Media Day and the Radio, Television and Communications Workers' Day, BelTA has learned.

“Today, our work quite literally determines whether there will be a peaceful sky over the heads of our children, over our own heads,” Dmitry Zhuk said.

The information minister said that this morning he read the professional day greetings from the head of state, Aleksandr Lukashenko, to media workers and veterans and drew attention to the words contained in it that the rich history of the Belarusian printed word began 500 years ago with the unique Bible of Francysk Skaryna.

“Moreover, this word of ours - yours and mine - is weighty, sincere, and well-argued,” Dmitry Zhuk emphasized.

He expressed the hope that all media professionals meet the requirements laid out by the head of state and achieve the goals that have been set.

Commendation letters and honorary certificates from the Information Ministry were awarded during the event. 

In recognition of her many years of dedicated work in the media sector and exemplary performance of her duties, Svetlana Vasilevskaya, Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Editor of the Political Information and Analysis Department at BelTA, has been honored with the commendation letter from the information minister.
