Information Ministry: No revision of history will be allowed in Belarus
LOGOISK DISTRICT, 22 March (BelTA) – Everything is being done in Belarus to prevent a revision of history. Belarusian First Deputy Information Minister Andrei Kuntsevich made the statement during events dedicated to the 83rd anniversary of the tragedy in Khatyn, BelTA has learned.
Andrei Kuntsevich said: “The Khatyn Tragedy Remembrance Day just like similar tragedies of hundreds of our other villages that did not survive that war represents a special day on the historical calendar of the Belarusian nation, which endured and prevailed despite all the hardships and tribulations. This day is valuable due to the lessons it teaches to the generations that live today. It is no accident that today so many people are here. They believe it is their duty to honor the memory of the victims of the great tragedy of the past century.”
He pointed out that some countries are trying to revise results of that war and cancel the memory of it. “As we look at the efforts of the leadership of our country, efforts of representatives of Belarusian mass media, public associations, we see that people in Belarus remember and honor this memory. In our country everything is being done in order to prevent a revision of history,” the first deputy information minister stressed.
