‘I can’t have red’. Does color-based allergy separation actually work?

You often hear allergy sufferers say: “I can’t have yellow or red.” Does this kind of color-based separation actually work? Svetlana Nesterovich, Head of the Allergology and Occupational Pathology Department at the 10th City Clinical Hospital, answered this and other questions in a recent episode of BelTA’s On Point. Health project.
“No, that’s something people have made up. There is no separation into red and orange. However, there are foods like strawberries and citrus fruits, red-orange ones, essentially. These foods contain active substances that can trigger allergic reactions. So for those who have had food allergies in the past, for example, we do not recommend eating such foods.”
