Blessing of Easter baskets on Holy Saturday in Minsk

MINSK, 11 April (BelTA) - On the eve of Easter, on Holy Saturday, Orthodox believers are actively preparing for the blessed family holiday, first and foremost spiritually, while also making traditional dishes and treats for the festive table.

At the Church of Saint Mary Magdalene, Equal to the Apostles, it is crowded today despite the cloudy and windy weather. Orthodox parishioners are warmed by the glow of lit candles and the smiles of their closest loved ones. Throughout the day, people will be flocking to churches to have their Easter baskets filled with painted eggs, homemade Easter cakes, and paskhas (traditional Easter desserts) blessed.
