Governor: Vitebsk Oblast has planted 40% of spring crop areas
VITEBSK, 8 April (BelTA) — Vitebsk Oblast has planted 40% of spring crop areas so far, Vitebsk Oblast Governor Aleksandr Rogozhnik told BelTA.
“As of today, we have sown 40% of the fields. The main focus is, of course, the timely procurement of fodder. This year we are increasing the area under maize by 25%. We are currently addressing the issue of expanding the area under alfalfa. All seeds have already been purchased, and the equipment has been repaired. We have resolved the issue of timely preparation of energy-saturated tractors and seeding units. With the help of the president and the government, we have resolved the issue of purchasing fuel, lubricants and fertilizers. It can be stated that Vitebsk Oblast is very well prepared for the spring planting campaign,” Aleksandr Rogozhnik said.
The governor added that the current need for equipment, specifically energy-saturated tractors, stands at about 400 units. “This year, with the support of the government and the president, we are purchasing around 150 energy-saturated tractors from MTZ alone. We have decided to purchase 47 tractors from the Saint Petersburg Tractor Plant. After all, we are in a single Union State, and the Saint Petersburg tractor is not just a tractor – it is a tractor that is half made up of Belarusian components,” Aleksandr Rogozhnik said.
