Expert: U.S., Israeli strategists miss mark on Iran war timeline
MINSK, 6 March (BelTA) – U.S. and Israeli strategists miscalculated the timeline for ending the war with Iran, Russian military observer of the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper, Colonel (retired) Viktor Baranets said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“It has become known that the operation against Iran was jointly planned by U.S. and Israeli generals. Just the other day, information leaked that they intended to finish it in four days. Then they started talking about four weeks,” Viktor Baranets said.
The expert believes that the US would not be satisfied with a scenario in which hostilities drag on for a prolonged period: “We can already say unequivocally that the U.S. and Israeli strategists miscalculated."
Furthermore, he added, the United States and Israel did not expect Iran to respond harshly to the attacks. The Iranian military, among other things, began striking U.S. military bases in the Middle East. At the same time, Iran is being accused of aggression against those countries that host the U.S. military facilities. “Iran is not striking these countries. Iran is striking military bases on the territory of these countries,” Viktor Baranets emphasized.
The expert also commented on claims that Iran is striking civilian objects on the territory of other countries, including hotels. In this regard, he drew attention to the fact that American military specialists are staying in these hotels, as indicated by Iranian intelligence data.
