MINSK, 5 March (BelTA) – The military observer with the Russian newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda, Colonel (retired) Viktor Baranets has looked into the possibility of a ground operation against Iran in a recent episode of BelTA’s YouTube project On Point.
“The question now is: will there be a ground operation? The Israel Defense Forces is already flexing its muscles to see how things will work out on the ground,” said Viktor Baranets. “Israel is already testing a ground operation by entering a neighboring country and killing people over there [as part of the Israeli army’s ground operations in southern Lebanon].”
Apart from that, the expert noted that recent reports indicate that the CIA is providing weapons to Kurds living in Iran on a massive scale: “Why are they doing it? It’s perfectly clear. They want to tear Iran apart with the help of the Kurds to make it easier to establish total control over the country. This is the meaning of this operation.”
Despite the fact that the United States is not conducting a ground operation in Iran, the American army is suffering losses in the Middle East. “At first the United States mentioned three, then four, then six people. But American cameramen themselves filmed four military transport planes that were urgently brought in from the United States. Did they bring Coca-Cola?" Viktor Baranets asked a rhetorical question. He believes that the personnel losses in the U.S. army significantly exceed the official figures.
