MINSK, 26 March (BelTA) – Negotiations are the only way out of the war between the United States and Israel against Iran, Nikita Belenchenko, Director of the Center for International Studies of the Faculty of International Relations at Belarusian State University, said in the latest episode of V Teme [On Point] on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“We see that Iran is resisting, and that resistance is yielding tangible results. Right now, the only option for the United States is negotiations with the Iranian government, which is showing its resilience,” Nikita Belenchenko said.
At the same time, the expert believes that the United States is not ready to withdraw from this conflict easily, as that could be seen as a defeat. However, further prolongation of the war with Iran will eventually lead to negotiations in one form or another.
“In terms of international relations, the acute phase of a conflict lasts four or five weeks. If during that time the parties have not initiated negotiations through diplomatic or military channels, the conflict transitions into a frozen state,” he stressed. “But that scenario will not bring peace to the Middle East, a region that is so unstable. Similarly, drawing outside forces will not deliver the desired outcome.”
