Expert explains why Mstislavl is worth visiting
MINSK, 15 April (BelTA) - What is worth seeing in Mstislavl, the former capital of an ancient principality, was explained by Igor Marzalyuk, Chairman of the Standing Commission on Education, Culture and Science of the House of Representatives, explained in the BelTA project True History. Lectures by Igor Marzalyuk.
Located in Mogilev Oblast, Mstislavl has long been known for its churches, miracle-working icons, and prominent political and public figures. What makes the town appealing today for tourists from Belarus and abroad? “I advise everyone to come to Mstislavl, walk its streets, and feel the grandeur of its cultural traditions, because our Mstislavl (‘Mstislav, who defeated many’ and ‘the people of Mstislavl, who do not die on their own bench’) is a kind of micro-model of Belarus. Listen to the poetry of these majestic churches and monasteries, look at this beautiful small town that was once the capital of a principality and the capital of a voivodeship,” the historian emphasized.
Igor Marzalyuk recommends beginning the search for interesting museum exhibits at the local historical and archaeological museum. “Visit the Mstislavl Museum and see the unique artifacts you won’t find anywhere else,” he added.
A walk through the town and its ancient streets will bring great pleasure to visitors. “Touch this tradition, both sacred and secular, which forms the foundation of the Belarusian worldview and the universe. Mstislavl will leave a wonderful mark on your soul,” Igor Marzalyuk noted.
