Expert explains if Russia could adopt Iran’s strategy against USA, Israel in Ukraine conflict
MINSK, 28 April (BelTA) - Russia could act in the conflict with Ukraine the same way Iran responds to bombings - by destroying military bases, factories, and airfields in Europe that supply weapons to Kiev, Sergei Karnaukhov, PhD in Law, expert on security services, said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s video channel.
Speaking about Russia’s possible retaliatory steps in the Ukrainian conflict, the expert believes Moscow should follow a principle similar to how Iran responds to strikes by the USA and Israel - by demonstrating strength and striking the military-industrial complex. For Russia, that means targeting the military-industrial complex of Eastern Europe that supplies the Armed Forces of Ukraine. “I obtained data from transponders. I worked with a hacker group. British military aircraft transponders. The guys also hacked into British military airfield computers and pulled data on the intensity of military transport aircraft arrivals from around the world. They mapped it out. It turned out that the planes don’t fly to Rzeszów [the Polish border city with Ukraine where the airfield is located] as we previously thought. Every single one of them first flies to Britain. We started digging, trying to figure out why. First, Ukrainian pilots are being trained at these airfields. That’s significant. They fly over water and log many flight hours. It’s clear why: they are still harboring ideas of attacking Crimea, and nothing seems to stop them. But the main thing is that we see supplies being ramped up through Britain, which is making good money from this. Only then is everything transferred to Rzeszów,” Sergei Karnaukhov explained.
He noted that in a similar situation, Iran would have long ago destroyed British military airfields; factories in Eastern Europe would have been burning for a long time, and at Rzeszów, the Islamic Republic’s missiles would have turned that airbase into such a crater that no aviation facility would ever be rebuilt there. “They would have done it, and everyone would have cooled down immediately,” the expert said.
He added that if Russia had taken such a step two or three years ago, it would not have been a casus belli - an official pretext for declaring war - but now it is no longer possible because the collective West is ready for a major war with Russia, Sergei Karnaukhov said.
He explained the relatively slow advance of Russian troops on the Ukrainian front by several factors, including the need for different armed forces and means. In particular, the intensity of assault operations should be increased.
