Expert: Existence of sovereign Belarus is unbearable for EU

MINSK, 17 December (BelTA) – The existence of sovereign Belarus is unbearable for the European Union and its bureaucracy, Russian political scientist, PhD in Political Science Dmitry Evstafiev said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel. "Russia and even Belarus do not fully understand the significance of preserving the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Belarus for European stability. In reality, it is of paramount importance. By the way, Russia also does not understand the importance a sovereign Belarus which is capable of restraining opponents and those forces, for whom the existence of an established state named the Republic of Belarus is unbearable," Dmitry Evstafiev said.

According to him, the existence of a sovereign Belarus is unbearable not only for the neighboring states, but also for the European Union and its bureaucracy. "In fact, from the perspective of the European Union, such a country should not exist. The EU will do its utmost to destroy it. It was ready to accept the existence of Russia in a way. Certainly, within different borders and political regime. But this is not the case of Belarus. The EU cannot accept it," the political scientist emphasized.
