MOSCOW, 3 January (BelTA) – The search for a missing Belarusian tourist in Russia’s Murmansk Oblast will continue, the Belarusian Embassy’s press service told BelTA.
Diplomats have been informed by relevant Russian agencies that on 1 January, a Belarusian citizen – a woman born in 1968 – was swept out to sea during a group ice floating lesson on the Tuloma River in Murmansk Oblast.
“Harsh weather and freezing temperatures are hampering the search efforts. According to information as of 8:00 PM on 2 January 2026, the missing citizen has not been found. The search operation will continue,” the embassy stated.
“The Consulate General of Belarus in St. Petersburg remains in constant contact with regional investigative authorities and rescue services,” the diplomatic mission added.
