Defense Ministry: Belarus is ready to interact with CSTO across the board

MINSK, 6 April (BelTA) – A bilateral meeting of Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin and Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Taalatbek Masadykov took place at premises of the Belarusian Defense Ministry, the ministry’s press service told BelTA.

Viktor Khrenin congratulated Taalatbek Masadykov on his appointment to the post of the CSTO secretary general. During the meeting the head of the Belarusian defense ministry briefed the CSTO secretary general on the current military and political situation in the Eastern European collective security region. The minister also informed Taalatbek Masadykov about the main operational and combat training events scheduled to take place in the territory of the Republic of Belarus this year, namely: the command and staff exercise with the CSTO peacekeeping forces Indestructible Brotherhood 2026 and the special exercise with the CSTO joint chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear protection and medical support formation Barrier 2026.

The Belarusian side confirmed its readiness to cooperate in all areas aimed at developing the military component of the organization, and to seek new points of contact in interaction with other international organizations such as the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
