CSTO plans to establish Eurasian Analytical Platform

MOSCOW, 27 April (BelTA) - The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) plans to establish a Eurasian Analytical Platform, which would serve as a format for regular interaction between the scientific and expert communities of the organization’s member states. This was stated in an address to the expert and scientific communities of the CSTO, CIS, and SCO member states, adopted at the international conference “Outlines of a New Collective Security Architecture: Current Issues of CSTO Information and Analytical Partnership” in Moscow on 27 April, BelTA has learned.

Conference participants deemed it necessary to propose a joint development of approaches for coordinating and implementing agreements that define the rules and norms of international interaction for resolving contradictions between states and interstate associations, and for creating conditions for the development and prosperity of countries and peoples. The Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century, initiated by Belarus and Russia, could serve as the foundation for preparing a universal document capable of regulating key issues of strengthening peace and security.

It was also proposed to consider the CSTO, alongside other international associations in Eurasia, as a fundamental element of the emerging Eurasian Security System. To this end, the address notes, it is necessary to ensure institutional-level interaction among these associations in order to develop recommendations aimed at optimizing political practices in security.

Conference participants called for intensifying efforts to provide informational support for CSTO, CIS, and SCO security initiatives, with the goal of building broad and sustainable public support for the policies of these integration associations.

The conference, organized by the CSTO Secretariat, was attended by leaders and representatives of international organizations, government bodies, diplomatic missions, as well as leading expert, educational, and research institutions from CSTO, CIS, and SCO member states, including Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, China, and India.

Key issues of Eurasian security were discussed during the plenary session and subsequent events - the working session “Integration Projects in Eurasia: Problems and Prospects for Cooperation on the Path to Ensuring Collective Security” and the roundtable “Eurasian Analytical Platform: New Approaches in a New Geopolitical Reality”. Participants noted the irreversibility of the formation of a polycentric world order and the need to combine the potential of the CSTO, CIS, and SCO to ensure regional stability. They emphasized the importance of transitioning from a reactive security model to a cognitive one, based on joint expert assessment, forecasting, and high-quality information and analytical support for decision-making. Particular attention was paid to the Eurasian Analytical Platform project as a permanent digital system for dialogue between expert and scientific communities and international organizations, the crisis in international security law, the hybridization of threats, and the need for a collective Grand Strategy for Eurasia.
