CEC head: Referendum held in accordance with legislation, without any incidents

MINSK, 28 February (BelTA) - The national referendum was held in accordance with the current legislation, without any incidents, Chairman of the Belarusian Central Election Commission Igor Karpenko told the media in Minsk on 28 February, BelTA has learned.

"During the referendum, there were some provocations and attempts to hamper its conduct. Yesterday, on the main voting day, some destructive Telegram channels published calls to disrupt the referendum, to destroy ballots, stage all sorts of illegal rallies and pickets. Members of the referendum commissions received threats," Igor Karpenko said.

"Despite all the attempts of destructive forces, thanks to the well-coordinated interaction between all stakeholders, the national referendum was held in accordance with the current legislation, without any incidents,” CEC head Igor Karpenko noted.
