MINSK, 10 March (BelTA) – A special Belavia flight is currently en route from Doha to Minsk with Belarusian tourists on board, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Given the current restrictions on air travel, the Belarusian side held intensive talks with the relevant authorities of Qatar. As a result of coordinated efforts by the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Belarusian embassy in Qatar, and the Belavia airline, authorization was secured for the national carrier to perform the flight,” the diplomatic agency stated.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Belavia is the first foreign airline to which the Qatari side has granted such an opportunity to evacuate tourists. Hamad International Airport was temporarily opened to receive the Belarusian aircraft, with all necessary services activated, including the provision of additional security measures.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses gratitude to the authorities of the State of Qatar: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Interior, the Civil Aviation Authority, and other agencies – for their assistance and joint work in organizing the departure of Belarusian citizens.

The arrival in Minsk is expected shortly.
