Belavia intends to increase flights frequency to Georgia during summer season
MINSK, 17 March (BelTA) – Direct flights between Belarus and Georgia continue to show consistently high load factor, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Shuleiko said at the 7th meeting of the Belarus-Georgia intergovernmental commission on economic eooperation in Tbilisi, BelTA learned from the government’s press service.
“We are grateful to Georgia for its assistance in resolving issues related to Belavia’s regular flights. The load factor on direct flights between our countries remains consistently high: over 80%. The Belarusian airline plans to increase the frequency of flights from Minsk to Tbilisi, Batumi, and Kutaisi during the summer period. This will undoubtedly benefit both sides,” the deputy prime minister noted.
He emphasized that all necessary conditions are in place for the resumption of scientific and technical cooperation, as well as for broader development of interaction in education, sports, tourism, and culture.
“Holding the Tbilisoba festival in Minsk would be a significant event for Belarus. We will welcome and support such initiatives,” Yuri Shuleiko stressed. “Georgia and everything associated with your country enjoys great popularity among Belarusians. The appeal of Georgian resorts for our citizens grows every year. Belarus is among the top 10 countries in terms of the number of tourists visiting Georgia. In 2025, Belarusian tourists ranked 7th with more than 150,000 visits, demonstrating the growing popularity of Georgia as a destination. In turn, the Belarusian side can also offer high-quality and in-demand services in health resort treatment, as well as ecological, cultural and historical tourism.”
Yuri Shuleiko also drew attention to cooperation between business associations in promoting the interests of the two countries’ business communities. “This year, the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Georgian business unions need to intensify their work on organizing joint business and exhibition events. I hope that we will step up our interregional cooperation. Seventeen cooperation agreements, as well as a number of other documents, have been signed between the regions and cities of Belarus and Georgia. These agreements need to be given new life and filled with concrete measures,” the deputy prime minister said. “I am convinced that our joint work will be constructive and highly practical, making a significant contribution to strengthening comprehensive cooperation between our countries. I would like to once again emphasize that we are committed to long-term cooperation and an equal, mutually respectful dialogue.”
