MINSK, 9 June (BelTA) – Earth remote sensing data will become available on the National Geoportal, the State Property Committee press service told BelTA.
The state enterprises BelPSHAGI and Belgeodesia have signed an agreement on access, exchange and use of spatial data.
The National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) includes orthoimages of the country’s territory based on aerial photographs. The geoportal will present them as an orthophotomosaic of the Earth remote sensing georesource.
This information is included in the mandatory set of spatial data “Materials and data, including spatial data, of Earth remote sensing”. The National Spatial Data Infrastructure will also be expanded with “Knowledge of Belarus’ ERS data georesource” and “Aerial photography knowledge of the territory of Belarus”.
The National Geoportal is a state information system acting as a single point of access to NSDI services. It has been previously reported that according to the legislation on geodetic and cartographic activities the State Property Committee plays a coordinating role in matters of creation and operation of the NSDI. The resource accumulates information from about 15 ministries and government agencies.
Thanks to the accuracy and accessibility of the information contained on the geoportal the adoption of management decisions will improve, resource utilization will be optimized, manufacturing efficiency will increase, and new opportunities for business development and the formation of an innovative economy will become available.
