MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) – Sergei Rachkov, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives, told the RTR Belarus TV channel what it takes to become a diplomat, BelTA reports.

“This profession is for people who know foreign languages and are constantly expanding their horizons. But above all, you have to be a patriot, you have to love your country. Without that, people will see right through you. And you won’t get anywhere in your work,” Sergei Rachkov asserted.

He added that professional preparation is essential. “That means knowledge, skills, and being in good physical shape. We travel to the East, to Asia, where the climate is extremely harsh. So you need to take care of your health,” Sergei Rachkov added.
