In the fierce battles near Rzhev, representatives of all peoples of the USSR fought side by side. Belarusians made an invaluable contribution to the liberation of the Rzhev–Vyazma salient, demonstrating extraordinary courage and resilience.
A tree-planting ceremony was held in memory of the soldiers who fell on Rzhev land in 1942–1943. A roundtable was also organized to discuss the contribution of the multi-ethnic Soviet people to the Victory of 1945: memory, heroism, and the continuity of generations.
During the discussion, Irina Akulovich, Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of Belarus in Russia, spoke about Belarus’ efforts to preserve historical memory and prevent the revival and glorification of Nazism, as well as about the progress of the criminal case into the genocide of the Belarusian people being investigated by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Belarus.
