Belarusian border guard registers new evidence of Lithuanian violence against migrants
MINSK, 16 August (BelTA) – New evidence of the Lithuanian side
using violence against migrants has been detected, representatives of
the State Border Committee of Belarus told BelTA.
According to
the source, several groups of migrants were found in the area controlled
by the Molodechno border guard station of the Smorgon branch of the
Belarusian border service on 15-16 August. Those are citizens of India
and Cuba. Representatives of Lithuanian defense, security, and law
enforcement agencies had violently beaten them and had driven them to
the Belarusian-Lithuanian border line, the source said.
All the
refugees show signs of violent beatings, abrasions, and open bleeding
wounds. The foreigners said the Lithuanians had treated them inhumanely
and had subjected them to violence and torture.
The Belarusian side has given first aid to the foreigners. The foreigners are now at the border line, the source said.
