MINSK, 5 November (BelTA) – Plans are in place to attract the funds of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) to reconstruct a section of the M3 highway from Minsk to Pleshchenitsy, Belarus' Transport and Communications Minister Aleksei Avramenko told the media on 5 November, BelTA has learned.

“We are now actively working with Chinese partners and the Eurasian Development Bank on attracting resources. We are planning to work with Chinese partners to reconstruct the R46 highway in the direction of Polotsk. The project will cost more than Br200 million. The second important project is the M3 highway from Minsk to Pleshchenitsy. Today we are discussing this project with the Eurasian Development Bank,” said Aleksei Avramenko.

According to him, about 700km of national and 1,300km of local roads will be commissioned in Belarus by the end of the year, keeping in mind all types of repairs. Among the main projects are the R23 highway from Slutsk to Soligorsk and the R53 highway from Minsk to Smolevichi.
