MINSK, 27 April (BelTA) – An exhibition of Tajik artists titled as The Beauty of Tajikistan: Heritage for the Future has opened at the National Library of Belarus during the Days of Tajikistan’s Culture in Belarus, BelTA has learned.

The exhibition features 38 paintings encompassing abstraction, national motifs and local color, as well as works of contemporary Tajik art.

Belarusian Minister of Culture Marat Markov noted that the exhibition is exclusive for guests as the Days of Tajik Culture officially open only on 28 April. “But today this is already the first event of the Days of Culture. Today we discussed many issues and our further steps in cooperation with the representatives of Tajikistan. I am confident that this exhibition is by no means the last and that we will map out a substantial plan offering many a chance to enjoy the culture of this wonderful country,” the minister said.

Marat Markov also noted the symbolism of the exhibition taking place in the year of two significant dates – the 20th anniversary of the National Library and the 85th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War. “We Belarusians deeply cherish the memory of this event, and I know for a fact that this shared value unites us with the Tajik people. Many Tajiks took part in the liberation of Belarus. We know their names; they are inscribed in our history,” he recalled.
Tajikistan’s Culture Minister Matlubakhon Sattoriyon expressed gratitude for the opportunity to place the exhibition in such a significant venue. “It is gratifying and symbolic that here, in this cradle of arts, where traditions of artistic excellence and spiritual continuity have been shaped for centuries, we present to the viewer a vibrant, vivid, and authentic image of modern Tajikistan. Undoubtedly, the open and friendly policy of the leaders of our states contributes to the rapid development of cultural ties between our countries. Thanks to their personal friendship and political will, the interaction between Belarus and Tajikistan is developing fruitfully not only in culture but also in other areas,” Matlubakhon Sattoriyon emphasized.

The minister also outlined what makes the country’s culture unique. “Tajikistan is a country with a millennial cultural history. We take pride in our poets, philosophers, and masters of applied and fine arts, whose legacy holds a place of honor in the treasury of world civilization. The art of Tajikistan is a bridge between the past and the future, the East and the West, tradition and modernity. The exhibition showcases paintings and graphic works, still lifes, and landscapes inspired by the life and traditions of the Tajik people. These works are imbued with a deep respect for nature, love for the homeland, and a keen eye for the details of daily life. The collection features pieces by both established masters of Tajik painting and young talents, whose work testifies to the continuity of traditions and a bright future for Tajik fine arts,” she added.

As a gift to the Belarusian side, Matlubakhon Sattoriyon presented a painting by Farrukh Negmatzade, People’s Artist of the Republic of Tajikistan. “His works are exhibited in 110 museums around the world, and he was delighted to pass on this gift to you,” she noted.
