Belarus increases export of intellectual property services by 32.4% in 2025
MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) – Exports of services in intellectual property increased by 32.4% in Belarus in 2025, said Aleksei Kurman, Director General of the National Center of Intellectual Property (NCIP), at a meeting of the Council of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) in Minsk, BelTA learned from the NCIP press service.
The meeting took stock of the center’s activities in 2025 and outlined new strategic objectives for 2026 across key areas of business support.
Aleksei Kurman highlighted the most significant aspects of assistance provided to Belarusian exporters. “In 2025, the total volume of exports of goods and services exceeded $50 billion, showing a 4.2% increase compared to 2024. Exports of services related to the use of intellectual property objects grew by 32.4% year-on-year,” the NCIP director general noted.
The effectiveness of the existing three-tier system for protecting intellectual property (national, regional, and international) is confirmed by the experience of the country’s leading enterprises. Machinery industry leaders and BelCCI members BelAZ and MAZ received more than 140 protection documents. In the food industry, Spartak and Kommunarka hold portfolios of roughly 1,000 protection documents each.
The coordinated work of NCIP and BelCCI is aimed at developing the national economy, expanding access to new markets, and protecting domestic producers from unfair competition.
“When entering the international trading arena, the absence of legal protection makes an exporter vulnerable to unfair competitors and counterfeiting. This is why securing intellectual property rights is one of the most important tasks for companies seeking to strengthen their market positions,” Aleksei Kurman emphasized.
He concluded by noting that effective cooperation between NCIP and BelCCI plays a crucial role in developing export activities and the national economy as a whole. Further expansion of cooperation formats will help unlock Belarus’ full export potential.
