MINSK, 17 June (BelTA) – Belarus' State Border Committee is ready for the mass arrival of participants and fans of the 2nd European Games, Deputy Head of the Department of Preliminary Investigation and Legal Support at the State Border Committee of Belarus Aleksei Sytenkov told the media, BelTA has learned.

“The European Games is a big event for the country, and we are ready to perform our tasks related to clearance of an increased number of people, including participants, fans and tourists. At the moment the situation is manageable,” Aleksei Sytenkov said.

According to him, the border committee closely cooperates with the MEGOC and this helps prevent violations. “There is this trend that we have seen recently when one and the same person from a third country would send accreditation applications as a representative of a television, print or Internet media outlet. We are monitoring this and other situations and are ready for any developments,” he said.

Law enforcement agencies will increase their presence to ensure a comfortable stay and protect public order at sports facilities of the 2nd European Games, added Aleksei Begun, the Head of the Citizenship and Migration Department of the Belarusian Interior Ministry.
