Bastrykin: We work closely with Belarus on Great Patriotic War genocide investigation
MINSK, 11 December (BelTA) - Ahead of the international conference to mark the 77th anniversary of the 1948 UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in Minsk, Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin told journalists about the cooperation between Russian and Belarusian colleagues in investigating the genocide of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War, BelTA has learned.
“We are working very closely with the General Prosecutor's Office and the Investigative Committee of Belarus, exchanging archival materials and information. We have achieved that judicial rulings on genocide against the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War have been issued in 34 regions of the Russian Federation. These verdicts solidify the legal and historical significance of the results of our joint work with the General Prosecutor's Office and the Investigative Committee of Belarus in investigating the genocide of the Soviet people during the war years. The results are significant. We are continuing our work,” said Alexander Bastrykin.
