MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) – Belarus' active longevity strategy 2030 has been approved by Council of Ministers Resolution No.693 of 3 December 2020, BelTA learned from the national legal internet portal.
The provisions of the strategy will be taken into account in the drafting of the country's social and economic development programs, governemnt programs through 2030, and legal instruments.
The strategy is designed to create conditions for the most complete and effective realization of the potential of elderly citizens, sustainable improvement of their quality of life through the adaptation of state and public institutions to the problem of aging.
The strategy is aimed at solving six main tasks. They are to ensure the protection of the rights and dignity of the elderly, create conditions for their social inclusion and full participation in society; encourage longer working lives, create a comfortable level of income for elderly citizens; provide opportunities for lifelong learning, increase access to education and professional development. The tasks also include creation of conditions for healthy and safe life, active longevity; development of social services; development of infrastructure and environment adapted to the needs of the elderly.
The document contains 55 measures to implement the strategy. They comprise improvement of legislation on social services, collective and tariff agreements including norms against age discrimination in the hiring and dismissal of employees, councils of elderly citizens under local authorities, workshops, sightseeing tours, development of tourist routes adapted for the elderly, advanced and others.
