Lukashenko to war veterans: We will not let anyone take your Victory from us

MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko addressed veterans of the Great Patriotic War with words of gratitude during a state awards ceremony ahead of Victory Day on 7 May, BelTA has learned.

“We need you very much, because without you it will be very difficult for us. Be that as it may, human memory is such, and human nature is such, that over time, people lose that memory. It fades, becomes less sharp. But we, who have preserved the truth about that Great Victory, did so above all thanks to you, who are still alive, who lived through those difficult times, who told us and our youth how it really was. That is the simple arithmetic of why we need you very, very much — and not only us,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized.

“As for those still living in Belarus, I want our senior comrades to know: we will not let anyone take your Victory from us. We will always remain faithful to the traditions that shaped and raised us. Thank you for that,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.
