Lukashenko: Struggle for global technological leadership pushes world to brink of abyss
MINSK, 2 September (BelTA) — The struggle for global technological leadership has pushed the world to the brink of the abyss, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a Q&A session titled “Open Microphone with the President” at Vitebsk State University on 2 September, BelTA has learned.
“Due to the current struggle for global technological leadership, which resembles the arms race of the second half of the last century, unfortunately, the world has again found itself on the brink of the abyss. In some parts of the world smoldering fire is turning into flame, in others conflicts are going on with weapons in hand,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
According to him, technological monopolies represented by Western states will do everything to prevent the transfer of knowledge and technology to developing states. "For the collective West, these countries are sales markets and suppliers of labor. It is similar to neocolonialism in pure form," the president emphasized.
