Lukashenko delivers on champagne promise for new dairy complex

PETRIKOV DISTRICT, 26 April (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko praised the rapid construction timeline of the dairy complex as he visited Agro-Lyaskovichi on 26 April, BelTA has learned.

The dairy complex was built as a pilot project using wooden structures. In other words, locally sourced materials were used.

The head of state had visited the site in October 2025, when construction was in full swing. After inspecting the site, he spoke with the builders and asked detailed questions about the technologies. “Beautiful! I think you’ll set a benchmark here,” he said, assessing the work already completed at the time. He also promised that upon the speedy completion of the work, he would raise a glass of champagne to mark the commission of the new complex. Though, Head of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate Yuri Nazarov jokingly suggested homemade spirits as an alternative.

During the head of state’s current visit, the topic resurfaced at Yuri Nazarov’s prompting. “Aleksandr Grigoryevich [Lukashenko], may I raise an issue?” he asked the president after the tour of the dairy complex facilities.

“There’s no money,” Lukashenko replied with a hint of humor.

“What should we do about the champagne? You said: champagne upon completion of the complex...” the head of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate reminded him.

“A promise is a promise – we’ll follow through,” the president answered.

“Well, lads, they promised - they delivered. Thank you to the builders. Yuri Viktorovich [Nazarov], my personal thanks to you for keeping your word. I very much hope that this [this pilot dairy complex project] works well,” the head of state said, proposing a toast.
