Lukashenko: Bellegprom may be transformed into a ministry

MINSK, 13 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian state concern for production and sale of light industry goods Bellegprom may be transformed into a ministry, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he approved the appointment of Nadezhda Lazarevich as Chairperson of the concern, BelTA has learned.

“This is essentially a ministerial position. We still need to review the management system there. Perhaps it would be better to transform the concern into a ministry. If necessary, we could add something in one place and take away something in another. We will consider this issue separately,” the head of state said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that both the Belarus President Administration and the Government have informed him that the situation in the concern is challenging. “For various reasons. And although I usually treat such information with caution, in this case I believe that the situation there is indeed complicated,” the president said.

“This sector must be pulled forward, because it’s about people. We must feed and clothe our people. These tasks seem to have been done. But we must preserve the results achieved,” the head of state instructed.
