Lukashenko: Belarus will prohibit repurposing of agricultural land

SOLIGORSK DISTRICT, 3 October (BelTA) – Belarus will impose a ban on repurposing of agricultural land, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during his working trip to Soligorsk District, BelTA has learned.

The head of state noted that no new lands from the agricultural land pool will be allocated for construction or plots as it is a valuable resource. This is especially true given that there are many abandoned and unused plots in small communities. “Plow everything and clear up what is not needed,” he instructed.

Regarding the use of agricultural land for other purposes, Aleksandr Lukashenko stated: “It is out of the question. These might be isolated cases for some investments. Forests and agricultural lands. Next year, a total ban will be imposed on repurposing of agricultural land. It is absolutely unacceptable.”

The head of state recalled that the county’s agricultural land is also a heritage from ancestors who first developed it using the slash-and-burn method.
