Lukashenko begins working trip to Gomel Oblast

MOZYR DISTRICT, 24 April (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has kicked off his major working trip to Gomel Oblast. Regional development is the key theme of the head of state’s visit to the country’s south, BelTA has learned.

The first stop is Mozyr District. The head of state will inspect the operations of Mozyrtekhservice, which restores and manufactures agricultural machinery. The enterprise is part of the agricultural service organizations, whose primary function is maintenance and repair of general- and special-purpose machinery and equipment for agriculture and forestry.
The enterprises providing equipment repair, spare parts supply, and provision for agricultural organizations are united under Belagroservice. It includes 125 organizations, among them 87 district agricultural service centers, 13 district agricultural chemical service enterprises, and four motor vehicle and equipment repair plants.

Agricultural service organizations carry out repairs of complex breakdowns that cannot be fixed within agricultural organizations. To reduce the cost of such repairs, annual financing is provided from the national budget. Technical centers of manufacturing plants have been established on the basis of 31 agricultural service organizations. Additionally, the plants have formed a replacement machinery pool.

After reviewing the work of Mozyrtekhservice, the head of state will hold a seminar-meeting on the operation of agricultural service organizations and the preparation of machinery for field work. Currently, about 212,000 agricultural machines and equipment units are in use in the country’s agricultural organizations. Over the past 30 years, the level of high-power agricultural machinery has increased significantly. The number of tractors with 250 or more horsepower has grown from 10% to 21%.

The outcomes of the major working trip to Gomel Oblast, as well as earlier events and reports on various regional issues, will serve, among other things, as a basis for shaping the agenda of another major event with the president. The One District - One Project meeting will focus on the development prospects of Belarusian regions.
