MINSK, 9 April (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko appointed Dmitry Zhuk as Information Minister on 9 April, BelTA has learned.

Until now, Dmitry Zhuk held the position of Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Belarus Segodnya publishing house.

“Dmitry Aleksandrovich [Zhuk], what advice can I give you? You are already a seasoned person, ideologically sound, and you understand what needs to be done. I have absolutely no objection to you trying your hand at this position. Although I do feel a great deal of regret when a hands-on professional like you moves into management work. Because, well, I think we might lose a good specialist,” the head of state said, addressing the newly appointed minister.

“Well, it’s not another planet,” Dmitry Zhuk noted.

“I know you won’t be lost,” Aleksandr Lukashenko expressed confidence, noting the experience that the new minister possesses.
