MINSK, 29 January (BelTA) – Uzbekistan is looking into advantages and disadvantages of its possible membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Ilhomjon Nematov told the media on 29 January, BelTA has learned.

“This is a very topical issue today. It is widely discussed in Uzbekistan. We are studying all the pros and cons. The decision will be taken by parliament. According to the president of Uzbekistan, we need to take into account the factors that are necessary for maintaining close contacts with this organization,” Ilhomjon Nematov said.

Bilateral contacts between Belarus and Uzbekistan are very promising, the first deputy minister said. “We pay special attention to the economic sector. We are witnessing an unprecedented increase in trade. We often exchange experience with Belarus on farming development. Belarusian dairy and agricultural products are in great demand in Uzbekistan.
